Best known for her accomplishments on the golf course, Sally Dee was also an All-American on the basketball court.  And when it came to the classroom, she personified the true student-athlete.

At Westhill High School, Sally played four years on the boys’ varsity golf team.  In basketball, her accomplishments were many:  1668 career points (without benefit of three-pointers during her freshmen year)…three times first team All-County…twice first team All-State…during her senior year, she averaged 25 points and 20 rebounds per game, was named the 1989 New York State Tournament MVP, and led Westhill to the state title for the first time in school history as well as being a USA Today Honorable Mention All-American.  The Italian American Athletic Club also honored her that same year with its Athlete of the Year Award (along with Hall of Famer Dorsey Levens).

Sally was the area’s dominant young, female golfer in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s.  A two-time Syracuse Junior Girl’s Champion, she captured the New York State Girls title in 1988.  Two years later she won the Syracuse Women’s Distrrict title and the first of her two Babe Zaharias championships.  In 1991, Sally reigned as the State Women’s champ and successfully defended her title in the “Babe.”

Collegiately she was a three-time academic All-American, was named Student-Athlete of the Year and the Outstanding Scholar-Athlete twice at the University of South Florida.  A cum laude graduate in 1993, Sally was an NCAA Athlete-of-the-Year finalist her senior year.

Among very few Central New York women to become professional tour golfers, Sally played on the LPGA Tour from 1998-2002.  While on the Tour, she competed in the women’s US Open, British Open, and Canadian Open plus the LPGA Championship – all majors.  She had two top 5 finishes, and five top 10’s during her time on tour.  She also won the ReMax World Long Drive crown in 2004 and was a contestant on the Big Break X in 2008.

A graduate assistant women’s golf coach at USF from 2009-2011, Sally earned her MBA last year…and oh yes, the Syracusan-turned-Floridian was summa cum laude.
