A St. Lucy’s basketball star, Ormie Spencer scored 45 points in Parochial League playoff game in 1951 against St. Pat’s. He was the first freshman ever to make First Team All-Parochial; averaged 20.4 ppg during 1952-53 season while leading St. Lucy’s (coached by Hall of Famer Frank Satalin) to the Parochial Leagues’ first ever undefeated season (16-0 in the league while sweeping the playoffs) The team finished the season 23-1 with its only loss coming at the season ending Eastern States Catholic Invitational Tournament in Newport, RI. He was the unanimous selection to St. Lucy’s All-Time Top 20 All-Star Team;. The City of Syracuse name a Park after him. He was inducted into Syracuse Urban Sports Hall of Fame in 2001.
