Glen Eichelberger

Softball
Enshrined 1995

Softball legend Glen Eichelberger was known as one of the toughest outs in the game. The hard-hitting Eichelberger, a former baseball player in the early 1960s at Syracuse University, smashed 700 career home runs, including 105 round-trippers in a two-year span.

The slow pitch softball hall of famer played on several local teams and from 1968-1971 participated in four ASA Regional Tournaments and the National ASA Class A Tournament in Parma, Ohio. Eichelberger made the USSSA All-World Team four times. He played one year of professional softball with the Rochester Zeniths in 1978 then became an umpire.

Eichelberger maintained his high level of play while competing in local over-40 and masters softball leagues. He played in the USSSA Men’s Masters World Series in South Carolina with Ronnie’s Legends of Rochester in 1991.
