Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

7/18/05

Congressman James T. Walsh joins Roger Burdick, CEO of Driver's Village and John Rathbun along with original Hall of Fame boards members; Bill Dutch, Tex Simone and Hal McGrath as they participate in a ribbon cutting of the soft opening of the new Hall of Fame exhibit at Driver's Village in Cicero.

This exhibit is made possible by a federal grand secured by Congressman James T. Walsh, personal donations from individuals like Roger Burdick, past inductees and their families. John Rathbun, past-president was emphatic, “This great exploration of Syracuse athletic heritage would not have been possible without Congressman Walsh’s vision and keen interest in educating residents and visitors alike about this community’s rich sports history. The Congressman also understands how this first-rate exhibit will play a key role in this region’s economy as tourism generators”.

This Hall of Fame exhibit will only enhance Syracuse and Onondaga Counties reputation as a destination, for sporting activities, historical achievements and special events. This interactive display will also attract visitors into our community, contributing to the economic impact of tourism to the area.
